Leaders of the largest rail employees union are contemplating an “up to date” provide from practice firms aimed toward resolving the long-running dispute over jobs, pay and circumstances.
The transfer by the Rail Supply Group (RDG) follows weeks of talks in a bid to interrupt the impasse.
The Rail Maritime and Transport union (RMT) has held a collection of strikes stretching again to final summer time which induced journey disruption for passengers throughout the nation.
An RMT spokesperson stated: “We’ve obtained an up to date provide from the RDG and our NEC (nationwide government committee) is contemplating its contents.
“No resolution on any subsequent steps has been taken.”
A spokesperson for the Rail Supply Group stated: “Following additional constructive joint discussions with the RMT management, we’ve put ahead a good revised provide which makes necessary clarifications and reassurances, specifically round job phrases and circumstances for our staff.
“Our ambition stays to safe long-term, rewarding careers for our folks, a greater service for passengers and a railway that takes not more than its fair proportion from the taxpayer.
“Our hope is that the RMT government will put this proposal to its full practice working firm membership and permit them a say on the deal, so we will finish this dispute and work collectively to ship a powerful future for Britain’s railway and all those that work on it.”
